Interview + Giveaway with Nicole Helm; A SEVEN NIGHT STAND

SNS_Tour_Badge_Final

Please welcome Nicole Helm to Novel Reflections. She’s here today to give us a little insite into her new Entangled Publishing release, A Seven Night Stand. And she’s come with a gift!

Please tell readers a little bit about yourself.

I grew up with my nose in a book and a dream of becoming a writer. Luckily, after a few failed career choices, a husband, and two kids, I get to pursue that dream.

I write down-to-earth contemporary romance over the backdrop of America’s flyover states for Entangled Indulgence and Samhain Publishing.

I live in Missouri with my husband and two young sons, and write my novels one baby’s nap at a time. I’m slightly (okay, totally) addicted to Twitter (nicolethelm), the St. Louis Cardinals, and someday owning a barn.

Please tell us about your latest release.

Seven-Night Stand is my first Entangled Indulgence. It’s about a reality TV show scout, Vivvy, and a small, private airport owner, Nate. Vivvy comes to Kansas in desperate need of a show idea she can take back to her bosses, and Nate has way too many skeletons to let that happen.

What does happen is a seven-night stand and feelings that grow despite neither party being ready for them.

SevenNightStand-CoverBack Cover:

Reality TV scout Vivvy Marsh loves her job, but she’ll lose it if she doesn’t find a hit. When she’s sent to Kansas to scout a show, it looks like a bust…until she meets sexy pilot, Nate Harrington. His family would make the perfect show to save her career.

Nate can’t deny his attraction to Vivvy, but no way can he let this show take off. The Harrington family is riddled with secrets, and she wants it all out in the open. For the next seven days, he’s going to stop at nothing to keep her out of his family’s business, even if it means keeping her distracted in his bedroom.

Tell us a little bit about your hero and who makes his perfect other half. :)

Nate’s a down to earth guy, a guy’s guy. He likes to keep things simple, still living in the house he bought and renovated after saving every penny through high school. He’s the leader of his dysfunctional family and he takes that position very seriously, even when he’d rather walk away. At his core, Nate’s a really ‘good’ guy. I’d probably say that about all my heroes, but to me, that’s the most heroic quality a man can have.

Vivvy is his perfect other half because she cuts through the BS of his family. At the end of the book, Nate tells Vivvy she’s his calm anchor, and that’s so exactly what he needs amidst the craziness of his family.

Do you have a specific image of what the hero and/or heroine looks like in your mind?

When I was writing Seven-Night Stand, I didn’t have anyone in particular in mind, but a few months later, before I’d sold it, I saw The Avengers. The minute Thor (Chris Hemsworth) walked on screen and talked, I thought he’d be the perfect Nate if he got a haircut (and lost the cape, of course). From there, I started a Pinterest page (http://pinterest.com/nicolethelm/harrington-airfield-series-entangled-indulgence/) which is about 50% pictures of Chris Hemsworth.

I also found a few pictures of Olivia Wilde and thought she’d make a really excellent Vivvy. So, even though I didn’t write the story with those images in my head, as I worked on revisions and edits, that’s who Nate and Vivvy looked like in my head.

What can readers expect next from you?

My next book, Flight Risk, will release from Samhain Publishing late this summer.

Also, it looks like there will be two more Harrington Airfield books. The second book will be about Nate’s identical twin who readers meet in Seven-Night Stand. The heroine of book three will be introduced in book two. No details or release dates yet, but any information will go up on my website as soon as possible.

Can you leave readers with a little teaser from A SEVEN NIGHT STAND?

SevenNightStand-CoverOne of my favorite scenes in the book is this scene where Vivvy and Nate are texting each other:

This time it was Vivvy’s heart that upturned. What on Earth were they doing? She knew they’d be in contact for the show, but this was a lot more than that. She should end the texting right now, and not respond. Not until she knew for sure things would work out, things could work out. But her fingers seemed to have a mind of their own. I’ll send a bottle of my shampoo. She waited, chewed her bottom lip, and gripped the phone as she waited for a response.

Send yourself.

Okay, this really had to stop. After she was done swooning and clutching the phone to her chest, anyway. Her phone buzzed again. “Naked pictures OK.” A laugh bubbled out of her, mixed with a strange pang of… something. Longing? Was that this weird want inside of her? A want to go back to last night or even the night before, sharing a bed with Nate, knowing she’d wake up with him?
That was a terrible want to have.

So, she’d keep it light. She used the camera on her phone to take a picture of her elbow and sent it along without text comment. A few moments later, her phone buzzed again, and she laughed loud enough for the sound to echo in the tiny apartment.

Hot. Good for my elbow fetish.

Naked pics go both ways.

Phone doesn’t send pictures. Trust me. My knee=damn sexy.

You need a new phone.

Promise to send naked pic of more than elbow & maybe I’ll buy one.

Vivvy lost track of time, only realizing after they’d texted their good-byes that they’d spent an hour exchanging silly jokes, what they’d done that day, sexual innuendo. And made a “casual” plan to do the same thing tomorrow.
