Please tell readers a little bit about yourself.

I’m a wife, mother, and full-time writer addicted to Keurig coffee and dark chocolate. I have the attention span of a flea and the memory of a goldfish. I’ve been told my super power is Sonic Perkiness. :)

What inspired you to write this book?

Since my paranormal romance trilogy doesn’t release until next summer, my publisher thought it would be a good idea to write a category romance for one of their digital-first lines to help build an audience. I always start my stories by figuring out who my hero is, and in this case I was inspired by a particular picture I found of my favorite male model, Parker Hurley. He’s in a pair of boxing shorts with black wraps on his hands. As I’m a huge fan of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Challenge) I automatically wanted him to be an MMA fighter. Then all I had to do was come up with a heroine that complemented him and would ultimately bring him to his knees, ask them what their story was, and then write down what they had to say. :)

Was there a character you enjoyed writing the most?

Although my heroes are almost always my favorite to write, I also had a LOT of fun with Vanessa (Lucie’s best friend) and Fritz (the grizzly old bartender). Their back-and-forth zingers were a total riot and had me laughing whenever they were together.

Without giving away spoilers, can you share your favorite scene from the book?

As much as it kills me to choose one over the others, I’m going to say my favorite scene is when they visit the art studio. Reid takes Lucie there for a surprise and she inadvertently insults him by bringing up another man. The result is passionate, angry sex up against the brick building in the alley under the pouring rain with nothing but lightning to illuminate them and thunder to mask their moans. ;) It’s raw emotion at its finest.

Do you have a special formula for creating character names?

Almost all of the characters in my books are named after someone I know. I also like to use other facts from my friends and family that I sprinkle into the characters’ stories, like birthdays, interests, favorite foods, stuff like that. I’m not sure if this makes me a very nostalgic person, or a very unoriginal writer. LOL

What can readers expect next from you?

Book 2 in the Fighting for Love series, Rules of Entanglement, will release November 20th. And for everyone who has hinted, begged, and pleaded…yes, it’s Vanessa’s and Jackson’s story! I also have plans for at least two more books in the series after that. I would expect Book 3 to release next Spring and Book 4 next Fall.

For those who still prefer paperbacks over ebooks, Seducing Cinderella will be released in print sometime this Winter with additional material. I’m very excited about that!

Can you leave readers with a little teaser from SEDUCING CINDERELLA?

“Close your eyes.” Seeing his determined look—and in all honesty desperate to try anything to get rid of her nerves—she obeyed. “I want you to picture yourself walking into that room, your head held high, and your confidence even higher. You know you look fabulous. This dress fits your body like it was designed for you. The heels make your legs look impossibly long and every guy in that room will be picturing them wrapped around his waist.”

She was slightly cold with the A/C blasting from the vent above them, but when he placed his hand on her waist, any chills disappeared from the heat of his touch. He stepped into her body, her breasts lightly grazing his hard chest with every breath she took. Her eyes remained closed, but the magnitude of his presence was palpable. Focusing was definitely no longer an issue. She was wired into him now, brain and body, whether she wanted to be or not.

“Pretend I’m him. I haven’t been able to keep my eyes off you since the moment I saw you. I’m wondering how I could’ve been so blind not to have noticed how truly gorgeous you are.”

Reid’s hand slowly slid up her side until his thumb was millimeters away from her breast. She told herself she shouldn’t feel disappointed when he moved it around to her back, managing to avoid anything inappropriate. His voice, pitched low and near her ear, rolled over her skin causing the tiny hairs at the back of her neck to stand on end. “I start with simple chit chat, shop talk, but the entire time you’re talking I’m staring at your lips and imagining what they’ll taste like.”

“You are?” she asked on a breathy whisper.

“Fuck yeah, I am.” His free hand came up to frame her face and he nudged her cheek with his nose until her head angled to the side. “You’re sexy as hell, Lucie, and I want to unwrap you to get to the decadent prize underneath. I want to learn your likes, your dislikes—to know your fears and your dreams—and I vow to peel back each beautiful layer until I discover everything about you.”

Lucie’s heart was pounding so hard she was sure the hostess could hear it in the front of the restaurant. She wanted to be known like that—physically, emotionally—desperately.

“Yes,” she said. “I want that.”

“Then take what you want.” His voice was little more than a rasp at her ear. It sounded strained and on the edge. “Make it happen.”

About the Author:

Growing up in small town Fort Atkinson, WI, Gina L. Maxwell, formerly Bisbee, could often be found onstage in the latest theatrical production, performing with her high school show choir, or holding office in her local FFA chapter. She dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps in the entertainment business, of enabling her audience to forget about life for a few hours as they enjoyed the stories she told through her love of singing, dancing, and acting. It wasn’t until her sophomore year in college when she realized she had no acting talent to speak of and her dream needed some adjusting. Another ten years would pass before she discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream.

Within those ten years Gina married her high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children, and moved more times than she cared to count. In 2009 she started writing as a hobby while her kids were in school, and it quickly became an obsession she couldn’t stop, and then a dream to publish stories of love and passion for romance addicts just like her.

Three years later, her dream came true when she signed with Entangled Publishing for a total of seven books in two of their imprints.

Her Fighting for Love series with MMA heroes debuted July 20th, 2012 for the digital Brazen imprint with the first book, Seducing Cinderella, and reached #9 on Barnes & Noble’s best seller list in just seven days.

The first book in her paranormal romance trilogy, Desires of the Soul, is set to release both digitally and in mass trade paperback in Summer 2013 for the Entangled Select imprint.

When she’s not writing or wrangling plot bunnies, Gina keeps busy with her wonderful family and their ever-growing extra-curricular schedules. Thanks to their immense patience and support, she’s able to do The Thing She Was Meant To Do and live her dream of bringing a little romantic fantasy to the world, even if only in the pages of a good book.
