Please welcome author Diane Alberts to Novel Reflections! Diane is here to talk about her new release, TRY ME, published through Entangled Publishing. Blurb: What happens in Vegas…can lead to romance. It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea. Bloody. Bruised. Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, [...]

Please tell readers a little bit about yourself.
Diane Alberts has always been a dreamer with a vivid imagination, but it wasn’t until 2011 that she put her pen where her brain was, and became a published author. Since receiving her first contract offer, she has yet to stop writing. Though she lives in the mountains, she really wishes she was surrounded by a hot, sunny beach with crystal clear water. She lives in Northeast Pennsylvania with her four kids, a husband, and a Senegal parrot. In the rare moments when she’s not writing, she can usually be found hunched over one knitting project or another.
She is a multi-published, bestselling author with Entangled Publishing and Decadent Publishing. She is repped by her fabulous agent, Lauren Hammond of ADA Management. She has, as of this date, three books with Entangled Publishing, and five books with Decadent Publishing. Her February release with Entangled Publishing, ON ONE CONDITION, hit #18 on the Barnes and Noble Bestseller List.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’ve always loved writing, but I didn’t complete my first book until July of 2009. It was an eye-opening experience. Until then, I didn’t think I could finish a book. I didn’t think i was capable. And since finishing that first book…I haven’t stopped writing.
Please tell us about your latest release.
Try Me is the first book is the Take a Chance series with Entangled Publishing. It has a hot, Marine hero with a chip on his shoulder–he never got over his ex-best friend’s sister. Erica never got over him, either, but is convinced that they are not meant to be together.
Can you tell readers who are not familiar with the series what the premise of the stories are about?
It’s about taking a chance with the person who knows you the best, or who scares the crap out of you–but you just can’t resist them.
Was there a character you enjoyed writing the most?
Jeremy. He’s so deliciously hot, and yet so soft inside. Is there anything better than a tortured hero like him?
Without giving away spoilers, can you share your favorite scene from the book?
Oh, hands down–the epilogue. And I’ve heard from a lot of reader’s who agree with me. It’s the perfect ending to Erica and Jeremy’s story.
With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs that readers jumping in somewhere other than the beginning need to be aware of?
Well, Tommy is Erica’s brother, and he is the hero in the second book. I can’t wait for readers to get to see Tommy get bowled over by Brianna. It’s a fun ride.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters’ names?
Um, I start by opening up my Word document titled- Character names used. Then, I read through it and pick names that I haven’t used yet. That’s about how deep I go. LOL>
Though, sometimes I pick names for a reason. Like in On One Condition, I picked Damon because Ian Somerholder was my inspiration for his character. Sigh
Do you have any interesting writing quirks?
I have to have a drink next to me. In particular–usually coffee. I need to have that comfort. It’s really weird.
Is there anything from your daily “real life” that has played a fundamental role in the inspiration or creation of the story line or characters?
Jeremy is a Marine, and so is my husband. I love military men, and think they are the ultimate heroes. The things they do for us every day are immensely huge, and I can’t thank them enough.

Hi Diane!

I’d have to agree w/ Yadira… your covers are awesome!
Hi Diane,
I haven’t had the pleasure of reading any of your stories yet, and this one sounds like the perfect story to start with. That cover definitely caught my eye, and the excerpt I peeked at has me intrigued about these two.
Thanks for the chance to win a copy.

I love military heroes. I think it is great that your husband helped inspire your latest hero. It sounds like a great story.
Thanks for the fun interview, I am looking forward to reading this book, certainly now I know there will be a second with the brother in question. Do the guys make up?
I enjoyed the interview. Thanks for sharing about the characters.
Great interview. The book sounds really good.
Do you think you’re a chaotic writer or do you write with a beginning, middle and end all mapped out? Can you work to deadlines or do do they fill you with dread and ultimately hinder your writing? ooh I have so many questions – are your characters representative of people (apart from your husband) you know personally or completely fictitious, maybe from history or movies? Which character would you love to be and who would play that person in the movie version? The book sounds fab – now that we know more about you and your writing methods it should make for a fascinating read – thank you xx
thanks for the giveaway, am looking forward to reading your book and hope you will be writing many more.
have you always wanted to be a writer?
