Vampire Nick Christos might have been born in the Middle Ages, but those days seem tame compared to the last eight years spent ruling the Supernatural Council. The only respite in his long days of governing is with his sweet neighbor Casey Meyers. Sure, he’s forced to take a cold shower after every encounter, but no way will he risk anything more with a human. Not with his blood thirsty ex on the prowl and out to ruin Nick’s life.

But when said crazy ex shows up at the ball and flies her freak flag high, Nick has more to worry about than keeping his hands off his neighbor. He’ll have to stay closer than ever if he hopes to keep her alive, but will she want to leave him forever when she learns the truth?

Please tell readers a little bit about yourself.

I’m an author, television critic, film critic and radio personality. I write about television and talk about movies on the radio. I’ve written 12 novels, several essays and anthologies. And I’m all over the place. I write paranormal and contemporary romance, steampunk, young adult and a multitude of other genres. I have two boys, and mostly understanding husband. Two amazing canines Gizmo and Harley. Oh, and I run an online writing workshop.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

I’ve been a journalist for a long time. But I started writing fiction in 2003 or 2004. I think the first time I thought maybe I could do this was when I had a chance to read a few pages of my stuff at Jodi Thomas’ house. I was there with a friend, and they had a critique group we were visiting. Jodi, who became my mentor, told me I would be published by the end of the year. She was right. When someone, who is a NYT’s best selling author says that to you, you believe them.

Please tell us about your latest release.

It’s a friends to lovers story that involves a super hot Vamp, Nick, and a curvy neighbor Casey. They are in love with one another, but one’s afraid to tell the other because they don’t want to mess up the friendship. There are politics and some sexy fun.

What inspired you to write this book?

This is funny. The idea came from my editor/publisher. She needed a vampire book. We were chatting about other stuff and it came up. I was trying desperately to think of someone who wrote vampires and wasn’t published yet. I’d sworn long ago, I would never write vampires. And then she told me the friends to lovers idea, and the book was just there in my head. It’s never happened like that before.

Can yo tell readers who are not familiar with the series what the premise of the stories are about?

The stories are focused on specific people. This first one is Nick, the head of the paranormal council, and his downstairs and very human friend Casey. They have feelings for one another, but don’t want to ruin the friendship. Crazy stuff ensues, and they discover they are more than friends. It’s sexy, sweet and funny.

Were any of the characters a challenge to write?

I needed to make Nick a little cold and overbearing. At least, he’s that way with everyone except Casey. The guy is 800 years old. I usually write alphas who aren’t so controlling. But I must say, I kind of enjoyed stepping into the darkside.

Was there a character you enjoyed writing the most?

Linc. Hands down. He’s Nick’s best friend, and adores Casey. I don’t want to give too much away, but I hope to write his book soon.
