Top 5 Reasons Why We Love a Man in Uniform by Laura Kaye + Giveaway of ONE NIGHT WITH A HERO
Love a man (or woman) in uniform? So do we! That’s why we’re super excited to have author Laura Kaye stopping by Novel Reflections today in celebration of her newest release of her Heroes series: ONE NIGHT WITH A HERO. She’s also come ready to gift a digital copy of the book to one lucky commenter. And, on a side note, I *just* finished reading this book and absolutely loved it.
Top 5 Reasons We Love Men in Uniform
Thanks so much to Novel Reflections for hosting me here today! I’m celebrating the release of my new contemporary romance, One Night with a Hero (Hero #2). This series features military heroes returning from war and struggling to find themselves and new loves. So, today, I thought I’d share the top five reason I think we just adore men in uniform!
Courage. We love men in uniform because they stood up, they stepped forward, they raised they’re in and declared themselves all in. And that takes courage. Whether a soldier, a police officer, or a firefighter, men in uniform place their families, communities, and country before themselves, and are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. How could you not love them for that?
Honor. Men in uniform live by a code of honor because people’s lives depend on dedication to truth, duty, and integrity. They hold themselves to a higher standard and strive to achieve it. This makes them hugely admirable. Living by honor is definitely another reason we love men in uniform.
Commitment. The grueling training. The life-threatening situations. The separation from home and family. The exhausting schedules. Men who work in any of the uniformed services know how to stick through thick and thin. They sign up for the long haul and slog it out. I definitely love men in uniform for their ability to commit.
Skills. Heh. But seriously! The training entailed to qualify to serve in any of the uniformed services (not just the military, but policing, firefighting, etc.) is difficult, competitive, and separates the wanna-bes from the real thing. Men in uniform possess the knowledge and skills that can save people’s lives in a whole host of critical situations. You gotta love them for that.
Uniforms. They wear ‘em. Need I say more???
So, do you have a different reason you love men in uniforms? Comment to enter to win Laura’s giveaway of an ebook of One Night with a Hero.
Thanks for reading!

About One Night with a Hero:
He wants just one night… After growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father, Army Special Forces Sgt. Brady Scott vowed never to marry or have kids. Sent stateside to get his head on straight—and his anger in check—Brady’s looking for a distraction. He finds it in his beautiful new neighbor’s one-night-only offer for hot sex, but her ability to make him forget is addictive. Suddenly, Brady’s not so sure he can stay away. …what they need is each other.
Orphaned as a child, community center director Joss Daniels swore she’d never put herself in a position to be left behind again, but she can’t deny herself one sizzling night with the sexy soldier who makes her laugh and kisses her senseless. When Joss discovers she’s pregnant, Brady’s rejection leaves her feeling abandoned. Now, they must overcome their fears before they lose the love and security they’ve found in each other, but can they let go of the past to create a future together?

The uniforms! hehe I think it’s what associated to a uniform: respect, power, courage….and it helps a nice and healthy body ;P
Yes, definitely!
Usually someone in uniform means they serve in one way or another and I like to be served in more ways than one ; )
LOL! I like how you think!
I like the uniforms because their : loyal, depend on dedication to truth, duty, and integrity, and courage. Have a sexy body
Yes, yes, yes and yes!
TALKING the TALK; complaining about what’s wrong with the world and how it should be fixed.
WALKING the WALK: putting on a uniform and doing something about it.
See the difference?
Loved both books, Laura. Congrats on N.Y. Times best seller list!
Woot! Yes to this! And thanks so much, Sandra! xo!
Hi Laura,
Their sense of pride from knowing that even with the risks outweighing the benefits that they have a higher calling. Their uniform screams pride!
~Sara
Yes, and I love the idea of a higher calling, too!
LOve all youe books!
Aw, yay! Thanks DeeAnna!
I agree with you but loyalty is a big one too
Yes, I agree!
All of the above.
I’m not so sure about honor considering what’s going on w/ Petraeus and the other guy. Youth could be added to the list. Most tend to be in their 20′s and 30′s so they haven’t gone to seed yet.
Fair point, but I still think it’s the ideal, even if not everyone achieves it. Know what I mean?
Other than the detailed list above (I totally agree with that last one, lol!), any combination of a high-risk way of life and an altruistic approach to said way of life is admirable.
I love the way you put that!
Thanks for a great post and congrats on the new release! not to be shallow, but the uniforms…. yummmmmm
LOL! I love it! Not shallow at all…
I love men in uniform because it means they can be counted on!!
Woot! Yes!
Lol, another reason to love a man in uniform: they have to stay in shape! They won’t become a couch potato pregnant with a beertender! Ofcourse I love them for all the reasons you named Laura, and I enjoy watching them walk by. So strong, and standing straight, they just advertise that they are sure of themselves and their abilities. They are proud of themselves.
Yessiree! LOL!
Love a man in uniform, that take charge attitude, their integrity and loyalty.
Yes, they definite have a certain attitude about them, don’t they?

I agree with all your reasons and they are just so darn sexy whether they’re on, half way one or off! Thanks so much!
Woot! Thanks Heather!
There is nothing more Hotter than a Man in uniform…I would know
. There are many things the uniform represents. The most common ones are Honor, Commitment, Loyalty, Integrity, Dedication, Respect, Power ect. But I think the one that is missed the most is Camaraderie. Without it a Soldier is by him/herself. Cammaraderie brings a Brotherhood a Soldier can’t have with just anyone but one in uniform or has worn the uniform. It doesn’t matter what you’ve gone through rather it be on homelands or over seas your troops have your back through life or death NO MATTER what and they are the only ones that can relate to what you have gone through in life.
Totally yes! I so agree! And that’s one of the things I most adore writing about military characters! Good point, Natalee!
I love everything Laura writes! And, I just read HER FORBIDDEN HERO.
People in uniform are giving and hard-working. We love them because they give so much for so little! And, their families give up a lot too.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Yes, that sacrificing spirit is so admirable!
I agree with all of your reasons. Thanks for the chance to win!
Woot! Thanks for commenting, Natasha!
Hi Laura
You summed it up pretty well. What I like the most is their uniforms and how sexy they look with them.
Yes!
I agree with Natalie! Nothing is more hotter than a man in uniform!! Military men are dedicated, brave, physically fit, loyal and damn sexy!!
My favorite book was One Night with a Hero and I would love to her more of Brady’s love story!
Aw, that’s awesome, Margo! xoxo!
Men just look so good in uniform. The jackets give them wide shoulders and a trimmer outline. Usually their service demands that they are clean and pressed with shiny shoes. Hats can give a sense of balance and authority. Have you ever noticed that men don’t get to wear hats now except in uniform?
A thing for the hats, eh? I like it!
I agree with all of them, especially the courage and honor, but I think their confidence and loyalty are pretty sexy too
Yes, those are great additions!
You got it covered. Loyalty is covered by committment and honor.
Thanks Lisa!
No you pretty much covered them for me. I love a alpha military man in a uniform.
Oh yeah!
I can’t think of anything else… I think you covered it!
Thanks Yadira!
Totally agree with the top 5 reasons you mentioned and the comments made above
To me, what I love most is their courage – it’s not easy being men in uniforms and I salute their sacrifice, dedication and loyalty.
Aw, I couldn’t agree more!
I think you pretty much covered everything i like in a military hero! I’d love to be entered to win this one, it looks great. Thanks for the chance.
You’re welcome, Martha! Thanks for commenting!
Uniforms, power, masculinity- in force. That is what gets me the most. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com
I really think what attracts me is that element of danger. Military people are specifically trained with guns, combat fighting, etc. so it gives them that little edge.
