BLURB:
After ending her passionless marriage, Cali Reynolds is eager to live out her forbidden fantasies. Her first step is attending new members’ night at The Den, the most exclusive sex club in town. Perhaps here she can find a man who understands her desire to be dominated…
At first, Jake McCallister thinks Cali has come to his club for the wrong reasons. But when he discovers she is seeking fulfillment after years of denial, he’s intrigued—and takes it upon himself to initiate her into the pleasures she’s been missing.
Her first encounter with Jake is everything Cali has always craved, and more; she’s not prepared for the feelings he inspires in her. And Jake is just as surprised by his overwhelming attraction to Cali. As their play intensifies, so does their bond. Now, Jake doesn’t want anyone but Cali—but is he ready to officially claim her? And will she submit to being his forever?
Bonds of Trust Blog Tour – The Rise of the Dominant Male
In the last year the media has gone crazy over dominant men in romance books. With the success of one BDSM series, the world was exposed to the long-existing erotic romance genera. And even better, they could talk about it openly. Oh my!
The flashflood of interest made it seem like the dominant male was some newly created enigma that had women everywhere swooning. Who was that masked man you ask? Why, he’s your hunky neighbor downstairs, or that co-worker in the next department, or maybe he’s the guy at the gym every morning. But maybe, just maybe, could he be your spouse? Oh let the fantasies begin.
But let’s be real, the dominant male has been around forever. Also known as the Alpha male, he’s the guy who takes charge, saves the day, and sweeps you off your feet all before breakfast. The only thing new is someone dressed him in leather and gave him some handcuffs and a flogger. Now he’s dark and mysterious too. Even better.
Alpha males are the stronghold standard of the romance book and there’s a reason why romance is the number one selling genera. It’s because woman love the image and idea of a big strong man bending for the woman he loves. It’s always the love story we’re suckers for and the bigger, stronger, more Alpha they are, the bigger they fall. All for us.
And despite the rise of women rights and female power, there is still a part of most women who like to be cared for. Because really, who wants to do it all? The whole bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan and never let you forget you’re a man crap died in the eighties for a reason. A woman can be strong, confident and successful and still like to be nurtured, loved and cherished.
Go ahead and give the man a whip, a dungeon full of play toys and call him a Dom, he’s still an Alpha male. It’s still the fantasy of finding that one man who can read our minds, give us everything we want without having to ask, make us come for hours and multiple times a day then charge into the night to stop the serial stalker who’s after us.
Aaah romance novels. Where would we be without them?
Excerpt:
Cali stood before him, illuminated by the light strategically placed around the edges of the room. Her hands were clasped tightly in front of her, her chin lifted, shoulders back, but her eyes refused to meet his despite his instructions.
He grabbed the back of her hair and gave a soft, but firm tug. Her head jerked and her gaze flew up to meet his.
“Look at me and answer my question. What do you want?”
Her eyes widened, the green depths deepening as her pupils dilated more.
“Answer, or we’re done.”
After a brief, tense pause, she spoke. “I told you, I don’t honestly know.” Her cheeks flushed. “I want a man to make me come. No vibrators. No toys. I want…” Her gaze darted away from his, but with a tug on her hair it returned. “I want a man’s touch. His control. His confidence in owning my body and giving me everything I want. I want sex that is also about me…not just him.”
A good start. He could give her that. Easily. But he sensed there was more. “And…” He let the question trail off.
She swallowed, her lips working as she gathered her courage. “I don’t know,” she admitted, the honesty projected in both her voice and eyes. “My sexual experience is so embarrassingly limited that I don’t honestly know what I want outside of what I just told you. I don’t know what I like or don’t like because anything outside of vanilla sex has never been given to me.” She sucked in a breath of air like she was shocked at the admission.
Jake clenched his free hand behind his back, the hidden action his only break in the calm, controlled facade he displayed. The desire to do exactly as she asked was so overwhelming it took everything in him to hold himself still.
Lynda Aicher has always loved to read. It’s a simple fact that has been true since she discovered the words of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, she ended her nomadic lifestyle to raise her two children. Now, her imagination is her only limitation on where she can go and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffer, scheduler, cook, teacher, volunteer, cleaner and mediator. If writing wasn’t a priority, it wouldn’t get done.

Thank you for hosting today.
Who doesn’t love a good alpha male in their romances but, there is also a fine line between a hero being an alpha male and an “alpha-hole” and I hate those types of heroes. Luckily, your hero Jake is a good, strong alpha hero without going over to the bad side. Of course, there is also something to be said for the nerdy, beta hero who is strong in a different way. I’m discovering that I enjoy reading about the quieter ones sometimes.
LOL! I agree. I love your “alpha-hole” description. Way too many of those. And yes, their are a lot of good beta males out there that get my heart going when written right.
Thank you for hosting me today. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Sounds fantastic! Congrats to Lynda on the new release! Thanks for sharing!
Your post made me feel a little old. I remember the whole 80′s thing and the masculine suits and slightly blousey ties, which I guess served their purpose getting us more of a foothold in the work equality door.
The alpha male is definitely a reason I read any kind of romance, but my heroines have changed over the years from innocent virgin/victim to one who knows what she wants (or is trying to figure it out) and goes for it.

Agreed! I think both the hero and heroines have change a lot over the years. The female characters are stronger and more independent. It’s good, because as we know women are not weak.
This sounds like an amazing story. How strong must the heroine be to leave a marriage because there is no passion. I can’t wait to read this story and find out how passionate she is with the right motivation.
Thanks for sharing!

How true is it that we now have the stereotype that just because women want to be able to care for themselves and their families that they don’t still want someone to care for their hearts. And how lovely to think about having the big strong man that thinks he doesnt need to be cared for at all, fall and realize that he just needs that one person to be whole. Ahhhh, how sweet!
The book sounds fantastic!! Thanks so much for the giveaway!!

The BDSM story is still a mystery for me. I don’t quite understand the psychology of the women who live this lifestyle.

I completely agree with your post, it is lovely to have that fantasy of a big, strong, alpha male

This book sounds great and I will definitely be adding it to my wishlist. I think the description of the heroine not knowing what she wants completely makes sense considering she has no experience. You might know what sounds interesting, but know know if you will enjoy it.
Thanks so much for the giveaway (that prize pack sounds fun)
